St. James' School, Binnaguri turns Golden! Jamesonians are on a Jubilee mode! It's celebration time! Eyes sparkle, faces light up, hearts throb and spirits buoy up at the thought of these 50 glorious eventful years, a saga of education and human empowerment.
The golden chimes that peal the skies above St. James' School, Binnaguri resonate a saga of success. Half a century of honest striving in the pursuit of knowledge, fifty years of commitment to the cause of education and five decades of untiring service to the society, sum up the secret of excellence that this educational institute breathes today.
Well, we have reasons aplenty to rejoice at the mammoth growth of the school that was started in the barracks of Binnaguri Army Cantonment with a handful of students, masterminded by Rev. Fr. A. Artico and Irish Patrician Brothers- Rev. Bro. E. T. Dunne and Rev. Bro. J.C.Carroll. When the school struck its first chord on 18th January 1973, obstacles were insurmountable but with unbounded hope and courage to face the difficulties and inevitable setbacks, the founding Brothers took the heroic decision to cling together and to continue Bishop Delany's vision and purpose for the Brothers of Saint Patrick - that is "Education for all", particularly for the less privileged in the society. The small seed sown then has now grown into a large tree spreading its branches to various parts of the world, producing thousands of eminent men and women who have contributed and continue to contribute to the world in various capacities.
This Golden Jubilee Celebration is a modest effort but compelling summons to recapture the foundational memories, a humble invitation to raise our grateful hearts to the ever bountiful God whose tender love, enlivening presence and empowering grace transformed our pioneers into visionaries, their dream into realities. This rich legacy is ours today. The 365 days calendar is a metronome that will tick away, chiming in a whole lot of meaningful events to showcase the magnificent legacy we have inherited and to help us reminisce in gratitude to pay our heartfelt tribute to all valiant stalwarts who have slogged to carve this temple of wisdom into what it is- one of the finest among the premier educational institutions in India. In fact, some colours of Golden Jubilee Celebration were sprinkled on the Jamesonian canvas on 16th of November, 2022 at the auspicious Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Clement Tirkey D.D., Bishop of Jalpaiguri Diocese and Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Aind D.D., Bishop of Bagdogra Diocese, and inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Logo by Rev. Bro. George Xavier, Assistant General of Patrician Brothers, in the presence of Rev. Bro. Jerome Ellens, Province Leader of Patrician Brothers in India and Ghana, the honourable Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs- Mr. John Barla, and other dignitaries.
Since its establishment, the school has scaled great heights under the able guidance of various Patrician Brothers who have been the bearers of the flame of Patrician Congregation spreading knowledge and eradicating ignorance, the Notre Dame Sisters, who have always been a strong support to the Brothers, and of course, the contribution of teachers, staff members, students, parents and all our well wishers has been instrumental in achieving this pinnacle of success. Our salutes to the members of the founder bodies, local governing bodies, managing committees, the Principals, Vice-Principals, Teachers and Support Staff, the Alumni, parents and students who promoted St. James' charisma in North Bengal, nurtured its growth by their toil and sacrifices and played a pivotal role in shaping the destinies of hundreds of young men and women who fondly remember their Alma Mater with deep affection.
Cheers to St. James School Binnaguri. May St. James-the patron saint of the school, bless and guide the Jamesonians to march forward to its centenary year with ever growing strength and courage!
May God bless all !
With Best Wishes,
Bro. Felix Mathew.
